Own Boat Tuition
If you have your own boat, why not hire an RYA Yachtmaster Instructor for a day or two? Tuition will be tailored to your requirements, and carried out at a time that suits you.
You may have recently acquired a boat and want to discover her potential, and familiarise yourself with her strengths.
Or maybe you want to brush up your close-quarter boat handling skills, develop short-handed techniques for Man Overboard Recovery, berthing practice and many other manoeuvres, or revise navigation and pilotage.
Are you planning to take the ICC? We can help prepare you for the test.
For the more experienced perhaps you aspire to become a Yachtmaster yourself. A few days with an instructor will help prepare you for the exam.
Although it does not have to be up to full MCA specification, your boat must meet some basic safety requirements. Refer to RYA publication G15 for more details.
Some points to consider:
- The boat should be in sound, seaworthy condition. It should have, as a minimum, lifejackets, harnesses and lifelines, and carry a liferaft.
- Your boat must be insured for third party cover, as a minimum. Proof of this will be required for our insurance purposes. You should inform your insurance company that an RYA Instructor will be on board.
- You should ensure there is a sufficient number of crew to work the boat safely.
