Upgrade VHF(Only)
This half-day course is only available to people who hold a Restricted Certificate of Competence (VHF Only). You will need to bring it with you on the day.
You should already be confident in all aspects of using a VHF Radio, as there isn't time during the course to cover the basics. If you are not sure, or feel a bit rusty, then you should consider attending the full day course instead. Use the checklist below to help you decide.
Can you:
- Write, send and know how to respond to Mayday, Pan Pan and Securite calls?
- Use the phonetic alphabet?
- Follow the correct procedures for routine VHF calls?
Do you:
- know the Do's and Don'ts of VHF usage?
- know the correct channel allocations?
If not, you will need to refresh your knowledge before attending this course, as it will all be tested on the day!
On the day students will need to bring payment for the licence fee, £25, plus a passport-sized photograph (not Polaroid).
